“Sometimes you make choices and sometimes choices make you”
It might make you perplex but that’s the hard fact of life. We are the end product of our choices. One of the most incredible gifts provided to us is our Power to Choose. We utilize this power daily as we make choices about where we work, what we eat, the clothes we wear, when we go to bed, etc. Life doesn't give us what we want...life gives us what we choose for ourselves. The following story explicitly brings out the prime idea of this circular:
Five wise men got lost in the forest.
The first one said: I will go left – my intuition tells me that.
The second one said: I will go right – there is a reason why right comes from the word rightness.
The third one said: I will go back – we came from there, it means I will go out from the forest.
The fourth one said: I will go straight – we should move forward, the forest will end and something new will open.
The fifth said: You are all wrong. There is a better solution. Wait for me.
He found the tallest tree and climbed into it. He climbed higher and saw the shortest way. He understood the problem and found the best solution! Was He the real Wise Man? No.
Everyone was right.

The one who went right, met thieves. They took everything from him and made him steal with them. But after some time, he had woken up something in those thieves that they have forgotten – humanity and compassion. The remorse was so strong in some of them, that after his death they also became the wise men.
The one who went back, made a pathway through the forest, which soon became a road for those who wanted to walk in the forest without being afraid of getting lost.
The one who went straight, became a pioneer. He visited the places where no one else was and opened wonderful new possibilities for people, amazing healing plants and magnificent animals.
The one who climbed into the tree, became a specialist of finding short ways. People turned to him when they wanted to find the fastest way to deal with their problems, even if it didn’t lead to any development.

We often wonder what choices we make in our lives.
Our attitude is a choice.
Our happiness is a choice.
Our mindset is a choice.
To live on purpose or not is a choice.
To forgive is a choice.
To act is a choice.
Stretching our mind is a choice.
Honouring our self is a choice.
Listening to our intuition is our choice.
Paying attention to our bodies is a choice.
Our holidays are meant to test our own choices. We are left with multiple choices like T.V., Facebook, Twitter, Xbox, Serials, Channels, Sports, reading books, Video games, etc. If someone prefers, s/he could vile away his/her time sitting before the glowing idiot box or meddling with the online time killers all day through. Don Bosco rightly said, “An Idle mind is the Devil’s workshop” for he knows the young minds are so weak and fragile in making the choice against giant “time wasters”. It is the responsibility of each parent towards their ward to guide them in availing the possible ‘Character building and Skill developing’ choices that could make them equipped for the future.
As we step towards the Holiday season, let’s keep in our minds:
